| Mine were about a 4 out of 10 in noise during break in and went all the way down to a 1 by 100 miles. Only audible at a very specific deceleration spot and it was very easy to miss. It was that way for a few years (more probably) until about six months ago. After a diff bushing change and re-oil, the whine has become audible (I'd say 3 out of 10) during highway cruising speeds but strangely not much during deceleration. Doesn't bother me at all but I could see a notch or two up being unacceptable for some. I simply have no explanation as to why it seems to vary so much. I've heard every reason under the sun with nothing nailed down. Wish I knew more.
